Drum Crazy
27 May 2005Learning at Work Days start with a bang
The
Drum Crazy orchestra visited LJMU today and gave staff the opportunity
to knock out some beats, and helped to hammer home the importance of
teamwork.
Staff were first taken into a room with percussion laid out on chairs, and then encouraged to start playing and explore the instruments, creating their own unique style of music. The facilitator then encouraged listening and non-verbal communication between the different sides of the orchestra, eventually bringing together the complex musical relationships to create something altogether more pleasant on the ears.
The session marks the start of the Learning at Work Days events, taking place in and around the University from 26 May to 2 June. The national initiative is designed to maximise the working environment and broaden the learning horizon for employees, this year LJMU the theme of 'Personal Well Being'. Staff from the Faculties, Schools, Services and LSU have been facilitating activities in order to share their experience and expertise over a five working day period.
