Drum Crazy

What an amazing sound! Over 350 children in perfect rhythm!

It’s not often schools encourage their pupils to make as loud a sound as possible but we asked the children to do just that when the ‘Drum Crazy Orchestra’ visited for the day.

Bringing 100 quality percussion instruments from large African bass drums to Brazilian drums, shakers, scrapers and bells staff and children were encouraged to make up their own rhythms to compliment set rhythm patterns.

Workshops throughout the day saw wonderful rhythmic music created by all the children from Reception to Year 6.

The day ended in a whole school performance in the playground with over 200 ‘Boomwhackers’ added.

Some of the children were encouraged to come out and conduct their own particular rhythm pattern.

Parents arriving to collect their children were amazed to find that the ‘Tribal’ music they could hear hundreds of yards from the school was being created by their own children.

Next stage, our own junk band!
