Jan 1st is our anniversary. We have been running DrumCrazy as a full time business for seven years. It all started with a breakfast with a good friend Mo Cohen. He asked us where we would like to be in a years time and from that we mapped out a business plan and decided to take the plunge. I gave up my teaching job, bought a set of drums on credit card and found a trailer to drag them round in.

Since then we have had our ups and downs. The biggest down was paying out too much on administration and marketing and realising we had to sack everyone and rethink the srategy. Thankfully things have settled down since then, turnover has dropped off slightly but profitability has risen well.

This is the longest I have ever been in a job, and I can't think of anything else I would be able to do with so much enthusiasm. The variety keeps us interested, our main business is the schools market with occasional conferences or adult teambuilding events which add variety.

We are starting to plan new ideas for 2007 and one of mine will be a singing package. Probably six weekly sessions designed to give singing a bit of a kick start in a school and give the adults some ideas and materials for keeping the ball rolling.

I am also going to focus on teambuilding events that really make a difference rather than those that are just a glorified bit of entertainment.

Happy New Year everyone.
