There are many companies in the UK who market teambuilding activities using drumming. Often the process is about a group of performers getting the participants to drum along with them or fast track training in a set of rhythms that can be put together in a performance. This may be exhilarating but often in my view misses a whole raft of opportunities for training and development. Also the style of leadership they are modelling is stuck firmly in the old school management model. The message is "We know what to do, we show you how to do it, together we create success."
The DrumCrazy approach is quite different to this. It is based on a modern style of leadership where the leader is aware of the creative potential of his/her team and is committed to utilising that potential. It is the function of the leader to draw out the creative ideas of the participants and to facilitate the group process to create a level of success beyond that which would have been previously thought possible.
DrumCrazy is about empowerment and modelling a teamwork style where leaders can emerge in response to certain tasks. We have no idea what the final result will sound like but we do know that we can create a high level of involvement, ownership and relationship in a very short period of time.
Our Facilitators have years of experience and are passionately dedicated to working with drums/percussion in groups to facilitate a high level of communication and relatedness.
The feedback we get is that our sessions go beyond an exhilarating and energetic experience. We create a powerful learning relationship. Training professionals find they give a lot of material for subsequent discussion. Leaders of organisations find it easy to pull out metaphors and relate their organisation and the way it works to the drumcircle experience. Participants find they are referring back to the experience many days after the event.
